Confirmed.

I used to own a CRX that I would change the plugs and pull the next weekend and they looked worse than this.

Can you buff out spark plugs?

I went through something similar, but worse this weekend...

PO said "I'm a mechanic, this car runs great and doesn't need anything." Hahaha. 183000 miles and 10 years on the original plugs and wires. Grrr.

you can clean and gap them ...

What does that mean? Gap?

There's a tiny, tiny little gap where the spark happens. Depending on your car and what plugs you're running, it sometimes needs to be adjusted. Most cars can run plugs right out of the box, but if you aren't running on the stock plugs, you will generally have to change it.

Oil consumption issues?

Yes. And a ridiculous amount of leakage from the valve cover. Just the usual old-as-hell Toyota situation: will run indefinitely, but leaks and burns oil.

change that valve cover gasket!

How is it that you manage to tame Porsches, all the while not knowing what gapping a spark plug is?

Because reasons.

Haha. Well, I sure can't argue with such a compelling explanation. At least you know now.

The more you know. ;)
The better. :P

Exactly.

A tribute to modern day high energy ignitions.
